What is National Preparedness Month?

September is National Preparedness Month and the Cooperative Extension Service, through EDEN, is a partner in this third annual campaign. This year's national campaign is focusing on family preparedness. EDEN connects state and local Extension offices to expert materials in disaster preparedness, recovery, response and mitigation from almost every land-grant college and university in the country.

National Preparedness Month will provide Americans with a variety of opportunities to learn more about ways they can prepare for an emergency, create an emergency supply kit, establish a family communications plan, and become better aware of threats that may impact communities. It will also provide them with several opportunities to volunteer or get first aid or CPR training.
