Our Magic Environment

Students who participate in this program will learn:

Ø      What "natural resources" are.

Ø      To be environmental stewards of our natural resources.

Ø      The consequences of polluting our air, water and land.

Ø      What alternatives to pesticides can be used for controlling pests.

Ø      To distinguish between reliable and unreliable sources of information.

Our Magic Environment is designed to run for 30 to 45 minutes, but can be adjusted for your individual needs.  Comedy and magic are used to teach basic principles of environmental science.  Various routines are interwoven around the theme of environmental stewardship.  The students will learn specific ways they can "reduce, reuse and recycle," as well as how they can make choices in their daily lives to reduce environmental pressure.  A routine on water pollution introduces the concept of groundwater, how easily it can be contaminated, and how difficult it is to clean up.

Our Magic Environment is best suited for students from Kindergarten through 8th grade, but can be adapted for older (high school) audiences.  This show has been used at several Earth Day celebrations around Indiana.  Our Magic Environment can also be adapted for adult audiences, including garden clubs, Master Gardener conferences, and civic groups.
